Hippie Culture

Hippies rejected rationality order and traditional middle-class values. They wanted to build a utopia which was free, close to nature, and full of love. This was a large stereotype against the white-collar man. Many new comers did not really understand the ideas but focused on the outward signs. Long hair, Native American headbands, long dresses, shabby jeans, cowboy boots, and the use of drugs. Hippies wanted to leave their homes to live in communes which was a group living arrangement in which everyone shared everything. Haight-Ashbury was one of the most famous hippie destinations.
